While fans of 1970’s anime Space Battleship Yamato have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the animated film version  by Yoshinobu Nishizaki they can hop over to their local Pachinko parlor and play the pachinko game Space Battleship Yamato Pachinko machine!CR宇宙戦艦ヤマト made by Fuji.

Fuji has created a two games Cryamato 1 and Cryamato2.  For the launch of Cryamato2, there are a series of  impressive TV commercials with some awesome CGI footage  and starring Japanese model Sara Kagami 各務沙羅 cosplaying as Yuki Mori 森雪

Ai Iijima Videos

Ai Iijima 饭岛爱 is a 34 year old media personality and former AV star. Her real name is Mitsuko Ishii and in her late teens, she appeared on late night adult TV game shows as a “T-Back girl”, one of the models wearing a skimpy thong. Her stage name was chosen by a fan survey.

She later entered into the Adult Video business and became a big star but quit by the age of 20. After this, she crossed over into mainstream television variety shows, one of the few “talent” so far to successfully make such a transition. She is now an established celebrity on Japanese television, appearing in travel, lifestyle, game shows, and quiz shows.

Ryoko Yonekura is a 31 year old former ballerina, fashion model and one of the most visible and popular actresses on TV and in magazines. This Kanagawa native started modelling at the age of 17 and worked steadily over the next seven years as a fashion model, campaign girl and in TV commercials. In 2000 she made her leap into acting starring in the TBS drama Koi no Kamisama (God of Love) and has since appeared in many TV dramas.

Mismo Nicostyle Nicotine less cigarettes from Japan

Japan is still a country of smokers but that is slowly changing.  There are a few options to help people quit and Japanese company Sosu Company 素数 has one.

Mismo Cigarette

The company has created a healthy nicotine less cigarette called Mismo ミスモ. The Nicolestyle ニコレスタイル (short for Nicotine-less Style) cigarette looks like a cigarette and is “smoked” like a cigarette but instead of filling your lungs with poison, when inhaled, it emits grapefruit or mint flavored steam (water vapor) in your mouth while the tip glows by way of a small battery powered LED light.

Takashi Sorimachi

Sorimachi Takashi

Takashi Sorimachi (born NOGUCHI Takashi) is a 33 year old male celebrity/idol and singer from Saitama. He started his showbiz carreer by joining the famous, Johnny’s Jimusho agency, (home of mega group SMAP ) in the late 1980’s as back up dancer for boy band Hikaru Genji.

Not achieving much there, he got into modeling at the age of 16 and then branched into TV starring in Virgin Road in early 1997. Later that year it was the highly popular drama Beach Boys in which he played a macho charachter (and also starred Takenouchi Yutaka) that made him a star.

Scandal Japanese band music video Beauteen

One of favorite all girl Jrock Jpop bands is back with a new single called BEAUteen.  Scandal are dressed in their trademark schoolgirl outfits and this song is one of the songs on their new single release Yume Miru Tsubasa which is due out on October 14th.

The Osaka based gals  have also been featured in Japanese TV commercials promoting Cecil McBee cosmetics, Nike,  and the song BEAUteen was part of energy drink Pocari Sweat’s summer 2009 campaign.

Sour Hibi no Neiro Music Video

Sour is a Japanese Jpop band formed in 2002 and comprised of Hoshijima (gutiar & vocals),  Sohey(bass)  and KENNNNN (drums) . The band have an urban, tight, mellow sound and released an independent CD “FOR MY INCONGRUITY” in 2005.

Their first commercial album “UNDER THE OVERPASS” was released in 2007 followed by “EVERY UNDONE DAWN” in 2008 and their first mini album “WATER FLAVOR EP”  June, 2009.   From this album comes the song ‘Hibi no Neiro’  日々の音色 (Tone of everyday) and a very innovative music video featuring Sour’s fan base from many countries around the world where each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.   The video was directed by Masashi Kawamura, Hal Kirkland, Magico Nakamura and Masayoshi Nakamura.

SMAP Locomotion Softbank TV CM

One of the most popular TV commercials in Japan this summer is SoftBank’s  ソフトバンク  (Japanese mobile service provider) Come On! campign featuring Jpop supergroup SMAP. The song used in the commercial is the 1974 recording of The Loco-Motion by Grand Funk Railroad and luckily the SMAP boys are just dancing in the commercial and not singing the song!
