Ayako Hatta 八田亜矢子 is a 25 year old Japanese TV “talento”  from Fukuoka prefecture.  Although she is a graduate of the University of Tokyo and has appeared on numerous TV shows,  she is most well known as one of the Obaka-aidoru (dumb idols), or, more simply, “bakadoru” on quiz show Hexagon 2.

She’s also appeared in fashion magazines CanCam, ViVi and JJ, TV commercials for ANA, NEC, Nexon and Tokyo Gas.

Rio Hirai 平井理央 is an cute Japanese 27 year old TV announcer with Fuji TV.  She started off as an actress in the TV show in 2003 Animal Doctor Dobutsu no Oisha-san 動物のお医者さん (TV Asahi) but has since done more announcing and modeling than acting.   She has also appeared in TV commercials for Asahi diet drink Slat 88 with fellow announcer Tomoko Honda, commercials for Hot Fantasy Odaiba ホット ファンタジー オダイバ, Fuji Golden Week Super and Shiseido.  Read more...

Pretty Kaho Kano かの夏帆 was given a special judges’ prize for the 2008 Miss Flash competition.  This 21 year old gravure idol from Chiba prefecture has released 4 DVDs, appeared in TV commercials for NTT, Acecook and Green House computer peripherals.

Kaho will also feature in a movie Re:Play-Girl due to be released in 2010.

While fans of 1970’s anime Space Battleship Yamato have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the animated film version  by Yoshinobu Nishizaki they can hop over to their local Pachinko parlor and play the pachinko game Space Battleship Yamato Pachinko machine!CR宇宙戦艦ヤマト made by Fuji.

Fuji has created a two games Cryamato 1 and Cryamato2.  For the launch of Cryamato2, there are a series of  impressive TV commercials with some awesome CGI footage  and starring Japanese model Sara Kagami 各務沙羅 cosplaying as Yuki Mori 森雪

One of favorite all girl Jrock Jpop bands is back with a new single called BEAUteen.  Scandal are dressed in their trademark schoolgirl outfits and this song is one of the songs on their new single release Yume Miru Tsubasa which is due out on October 14th.

The Osaka based gals  have also been featured in Japanese TV commercials promoting Cecil McBee cosmetics, Nike,  and the song BEAUteen was part of energy drink Pocari Sweat’s summer 2009 campaign.

One of the most popular TV commercials in Japan this summer is SoftBank’s  ソフトバンク  (Japanese mobile service provider) Come On! campign featuring Jpop supergroup SMAP. The song used in the commercial is the 1974 recording of The Loco-Motion by Grand Funk Railroad and luckily the SMAP boys are just dancing in the commercial and not singing the song!
