A blast from the past.  A rare front cover drawing with Apple boss  Steve Jobs getting his back massaged by former Microsoft boss Bill Gates on the cover of this Japanese Mac magazine from October 2007.  The heading says -

The subhead in vertical red type is: 拡張子やフォント、ファイルの扱いはここに注意 – “Watch out for extensions, fonts, and file handling!”

The big character on the purple curtains says “Men”.

Can’t explain the monkey, except they’re common at mountain hot spring resorts (onsen)  in some parts of Japan.

Japanese electronics maker Sanyo showcased a curious contraption called the Human Washing machine 人間洗濯機 Ultrasonic Bath during the 1970 Osaka World Expo.

Back in those days the engineers at  Sanyo people thought that washing machines made to bathe humans would be a natural progression in technology.  A user would have to climb into the washing machine and the process would start with a pre-rinse cycle using a five minute water jet spray, followed by a three minute massage bath that fills the chamber with hot water. Golf-ball sized massage balls pelt the body during the massage process, combined with pressure jets made by a whirlpool. Next, a wave generator created bubbles to wash off dirt, followed by a rinse cycle and a “5-minute dry cycle blast” that makes use of infrared and ultraviolet light.  Developed as a concept model, the Ultrasonic Bath (luckily) never made it into our homes.

Not content with just maid cafes in Akihabara, the PlanetPlan group has opened a new reflexology salon designed to relieve customers of stress with the help of  Japanese ladies  dressed in Minskirt police uniforms.

The salon called Action! Akiba Fumimomi Police あきば★ふみもみポリス, opened last weekend in the Akihabara section of Tokyo “to give workers some enjoyment away from the grind of their daily jobs and heal them,”

Patrons can have their shoulders,  hands and feet massaged as well as get their ears cleaned while they lie on the women’s laps.  The treatment menu includes the “basic punishment” or the “jail sentence.”  For longer courses, customers can opt to be “rearrested.”  Read more...

Not sure how the Coca Cola thinks about this but Cola Lotion is a sticky Japanese lubricant/ lotion with a rich cola scent that is is edible and suitable for massage or lubrication.  The 500ml Cola Lotion costs about 700 Yen and features a scantily clad anime babe wearing an American flag bra.   The bottle clearly says not for consumption and has the tag line “Pleasure and Exciting.”  If cola is not your flavor, there is another “green tea” version call Oi-Lotion.

Skypro360 from Mic Mac Co. Ltd  has a rotating massage head that deliver a minimum 460 rotations per minute and costs about 9,000 Yen.  Some Japanese folks use the skypro 360 to massage away their stomach bulges.

Japanese Miniskirt police (minisuka police) ミニスカポリス was a legendary Japanese late night adult oriented cosplay variety show broadcast on TV Tokyo from July 10 1996 to November 9 2001.

The show initially featured sexy models wearing blue police uniforms and miniskirts who “arrested” men who had double-parked or jay-walked, etc. The sketch evolved into a typical late night TV show had become very popular by the late 1990s and was used as a stepping stone by many pretty Japanese women to enter the gravure idol world.
