Juliet Gyaru Jpop Christmas Bell song

Juliet is a Jpop group formed in 2009 by three gyaru fashion models Yumi ユミ, Maiko マイコ and Hamiハミ .  They made their major debut August 2009 with the single “Natsu Love” which is a collaboration with Popteen fashion magazine model Komori Jun.

Natsu Love reached number one on Recochoku ring tone charts and #24 on the Oricon weekly charts, making their name more well known in Japan but the models’ faces were not revealed to the public at that time.

Dragon Ash classics I love Hip Hop & Grateful Days

Back in 1999, one of Japanese best bands Dragon Ash ドラゴンアッシュ. released two singles “Grateful Days” and “I love Hip Hop ” on the same day that became classics.  Grateful Days, reached No. 1 on the Oricon Jpop charts and samples the opening of “Today” by The Smashing Pumpkins and features fellow Japanese hip hop artist Zeebra and “The Queen of Japanese Lady Soul” Aco.  The track also samples Pachelbel’s Canon in the style of Coolio’s “C U when U get there”

Monkey Majik’s relaxing Sora wa maru de

Japanese band Monkey Majik  is well respected in Japan and the group  has collaborated on singles with Jpop artists M-flo, SEAMO 高田 尚輝, and the Yoshida Brothers 吉田兄弟. In July 2007 they released their fourth full-length album “Sora wa maru de” 空はまるで, (roughly translated into “the sky is so” ) in which the title song “Sora wa maru de” became the first song in Japanese history to reach #1 on USEN Request Chart before being released.  It eventually reached number 3 on the Oricon charts.

M-flo loves Melody Ryohei Yamamoto Miss You

Japanese hip hop masters  m-flo エムフロウ consist of producer and DJ Taku Takahashi and emcee Verbal.  These guys are have some great records and everyone in the hip hop and Jpop scene in Japan wants to collaborate with them.

One of their early and best collaborations was  miss you which was released on October 22nd, 2003.  It was their 15th single and 2nd collaboration.  It debuted at #8 on the Oricon Jpop Weekly Charts, selling 19,899 copies in its first week alone.  The collaboration featured Hawaiian born Melody and Ryohei Yamamoto.  The song has a great catchy rhythm and a fun music video too.

Depapepe’s relaxing tunes


Depapepe デパペペ are an acoustic guitar duo from Kobe, Japan consisting of Takuya Miura and Yoshinari Takuoka. The duo formed in 2002 and performed as street musicians.  They released three indies before their major debut Lets Go (2005) which was ranked within the top 10 of Oricon’s Instrumental Artist Debut Chart.

The band’s name combines the Japanese words for ‘overbite’, ‘deppa’, because of Miura’s overbite, and the name of Tokuoka’s previous band ‘DERUPEPE’. This Jpop band has a relaxing and refreshing sound which has made the popular among young Japanese women.  The band has released 6 singles and 9 albums to date.

Utada Hikaru Final Distance remixes

In 2001, Jpop diva, Utada Hikaura released “Final Distance” her 7th Japanese-language single and the 1st single from her Deep River album. “Final Distance” was the first song that Utada Hikaru’s ex-husband Kazuaki Kiriya filmed the music video to and it was the first time that Utada Hikaru collaborated with Japanese rapper M-Flo. The song debuted at #2 on the Oricon charts in its first week and had a tie-in as the NTT docomo M-stage CM song.

Japan Top 30 Singles Oct 25 2009

in Japan’s top 30 singles this week, Japanese group’s B’z has 2 singles in the top 30  Ichibu to Zenbu / Dive” and “my lonely town” holding the number one spot on the Oricon Jpop charts.  Other notables in the chart are SCANDAL – “Yumemiru Tsubasa”, YUI – “It’s all too much/Never say die” and  Sukima Switch – “Golden Time Lover” at number 2.

Nana Tanimura sexy jpop singer and law student

Nana Tanimura 谷村 奈南, Nana Tanimura 谷村  奈南,

Nana Tanimura is a pretty and sexy 21 year law student at Aoyama Gakuin University 青山学院大学 who also happens to be one of Jpop’s new up and coming artists.  This Sapporo born singer who has  gravure idol good looks was raised in Okinawa, Osaka, Hawaii and Los Angeles.

During her third year of high school in Osaka, Nana had entered the Miss Magazine gravure idol contest where she advanced to the semi finals.  Though not winning she was noticed at a different event by music scouts for her singing ability and was signed to music label Sonic Group (part of the Avex Group).
