Are you ready for the Akihabara Liberation Demonstration June 30th?

This Saturday June 30th, a noisey Otaku led march will take place in Akihabara. Organized by 3 shadowy Otaku groups, the Otakuism Alliance オタク先鋭派 革命的オタク主義者同盟, Revolutionary Moeism Alliance 革命的萌え主義者同盟 and the Revolutionary Rejects Alliance 革命的非モテ同盟, leaflets were handed out last weekend at Akihabara station about the 1.5km march. The groups want to unite anime and manga fans, cosplayers, social rejects and any others who love Otaku culture to reclaim Akihbara as the Otaku “holy land” and to protest against those who discriminate or look down on Otaku culture.

The march will start by the Suehiro-cho subway station (Ginza line) near Akihabara and looks to be an interesting event. More Q&A on the event (in Japanese) here. If you can’t attend, watch out for the video clips that will surely be posted on youtube after the event.
