Summer is here and there is nothing better than enjoying a Japanese summer (when in the cool shade of course) and admiring the beauty of Japanese girls wearing their summer Yukata’s. Here is a great photo of Japanese fashion models Nozomi Sasaki 佐々木希 (right) and Emi Suzuki 鈴木えみ (left) in their lovely and cool yukatas. Both are models for Pinky and Seventeen magazines.

Beautiful Miho Yabe 矢部美穂 is a 32 year old Japanese actress, Jpop singer and gravure idol from Eniwa City in Hokkaido. Her sister Mika is also a singer and model going under the name Mika Kawai 河合美佳. They both started as teen models for the Japanese magazine Momoco ももこ appearing in the New MOMOCO CLUB after the won a modeling competition.

From 1994 to 2005 Miho appeared in 9 sexy gravure photo books, TV commercials for food maker Fujiya, konbini Circle K and the drink Sangaria and 12 TV shows including (Quiz and Monday Mystery Theater (TBS) , Good People (FUJI), Couple Buster (NTV) and Oh Detective Bureau (TV Asahi). She also tried a career as a Jpop idol with the release of 2 singles from her only album Variety Kids in 1996. She’s written 2 books and appeared in several movies including Ghost Gate (2002) and Yami No Eigasai (2005). In the last few years, Miho and her sister Mika have appeared in more risque gravure idol videos and Miho has her own “Sex in the City” type variety talk show on cable Channel Mondo 21. Unfortunately, there are thousands of idols in Japan and we have no way of knowing them all! If any readers know who these 3 are, please let us know via comments. NTV’s New Year’s Eve show 幹事さまぁ〜ず　女だらけの新年会やっちゃうのかよSP Idol Ichigo Matsuri 2008 literally translates as Idol Strawberry Festival 2008. It is also known as the Fresh Idol Gong Show where established bikini gravure idols like Yuko Ogura, Azusa Yamamoto , Suzanne Sae Yamamoto, Megumi Yasu, Chiriko Sakashita, Harumi Nemoto and even Ayako Nishikawa,  judge new aspiring models in a gong show type format. All good fun especially if you don’t like watching traditional Japanese New Year TV shows and don’t have a cute Japanese girlfriend to go out with.

Part 1

What started out as a contest and public relations boost for Japanese AV companies to see which could sell the most of selected entries during a given sales period during 2006 and 2007 turned out to be a clean sweep for the S1 studio which won the AV OPEN 〜あなたが決める!セルアダルトビデオ日本一決定戦 contest in both years. Winners were given special cash prizes and there were also special awards for directors and awards from special celebrity judges including including New York Yankees slugger Hideki Matsui, comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto (part of the comedy duo Downtown) and author Lily Frankie.

For the third 3rd AV Open 2008 which was judged in February this year, the winning studio was again S1 which won the Grand Prix Stage, Best Cover Design, the Press Award and Shop Award. There was no controversy this year unlike last year, which was marred by the disqualification of Soft on Demand Create, one of the main sponsors of the event (and the company behind Team DOS) for apparent “fake” sales bringing the whole contest in question.

Think sexy US pin up bikini models in Japan and you think of Leah Dizon, the Nevada girl who became a Jpop star. In the US when they think of Japanese models, they probably think of Playboy model Hiromi Oshima, and Playboy model Maya Sakura.

As beauty is customized for local audiences, (see Leah Dizon’s transition to a more Japanese look and style), both Hiromi and Maya have become much more Americanized in their look and appeal to cater to Gaijin fantasy. Though not much is heard of Hiromi these days, Maya has launched her own website and is still flashing those amazing abs that show she doesn’t need the rodeoboy for exercise.
