Coffee flavoured beer in Japan

It just had to happen - mixing two of the Japan’s favourite beverages, coffee and beer. In the town of Mito at the Trois Chambres cafe, manager Koji Kawasaki has developed a dark beer which is made by mixing sweet wort (a derivative of barley) with coffee beans resulting in a beverage called “Coffee Stout.” The beer looks like a regular stout but has the strong aroma of coffee. We wonder if this drink appeals more to coffee drinkers who like beer or beer drinkers who like coffee? Next up for Kawasaki-san is a coffe flavoured saki.
