Eco Friendly NoPoPo liquid powered batteries

NoPoPo (Non-Pollution Power) are special rechargeable batteries from Aqua Power System Japan 日本協能電子株式会社 that were developed late last year. The NoPoPo batteries are rechargeable via a various liquids (including urine!) that are injected via a pipette into the battery chamber. The basic principle behind the liquid powered battery is that a mixture of magnesium and carbon reacts with the liquid you choose to inject, which in turn produces up to 500 mAh of life. This puts them on a par with existing zinc-carbon AA batteries; however, existing alkaline batteries have a longer life of between 1700 and 3000 mAh.

Each time the battery is recharged it has a lower power level than the time before and the life cycle allows for about 3 to 5 recharges before disposing of the battery. Each battery can potentially keep its charge for up to 10 years which is handy for Japan which is an earthquake prone country.
Since the battery does not contain mercury and other harmful materials, it can be easily disposed of without worry for the environment which is a benefit in Japan’s recycling drive.

I read somewhere else you can use any type of liquid to activate it so it sounds pretty good and not harmful to the environment
