Honda Asimo Robots serving tea

Honda is not just an auto maker. As an engineering robotics company Honda is also known for its humanoid robot called Asimo アシモ . The astronaut looking Asimo is about 130cm tall and weighs about 54kg. The amazing robot walks on 2 feet as a human, and can walk up to 6km/h. The Asimo was created by Honda’s Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan which started in 1986.
Officially, the name is an acronym for “Advanced Step in Innovative MObility”. In Japanese, the name is pronounced ashimo and, not coincidentally, means “legs also” (from Japanese “脚も”).
At a recent demonstration held at its Tokyo headquarters, Honda showed off two Asimo robots serving tea and performing other tasks in coordination with one another.

[...] Japanese tea ceremony robots be warned, your about to be served. Korean company Yujin Robot has been showing off a coffee barista bot that delivers your coffee without the Starbucks attitude. Although details are sparse the robot has already been given the catchy name CAFERO and has been making the rounds at Robot World 2008, which is currently running in Seoul. Since the robot can not even be found on the company’s website we are guessing it has a long way to go before you can buy one at Wal*Mart. One drop of hot coffee spilled on a human and its off to the scrap yard for poor CAFERO. [...]
