Maid Cafes in Japan celebrate 10 years

For Otaku who like Maid Cafes, Japanese publishing firm R’s Publishing recently released a book commemorating the birth of the Japanese Maid Cafe ten years ago entitled “I’ll see you at the Maid Cafe” メイド喫茶で会いましょう.
Four freelance editors and writers named Hayakawa Kiyoshi , Kimata Naohiro, Ryu Yamasaki and Kaede Sato write about various topics regarding the background of a phenomenon that has been on the rise ever since: Maid Cafes.
The book has the history of Japan’s first proper maid cafe “Cure Maid” and also details aspects like the proper manners customers should observe whilst inside a maid cafe. The book also interviews staff from maid cafes like the popular “Maid Cafe Pinafore” whose staff are in high demand amongst fans with it’s own figure collection or canned food line. The maid themselves like Kurara Himeno (Pinafore) and Arisu (Mailish) can gain an idol following with fans and they give lengthy interviews allowing people to hear first hand what it’s like to work as maid staff in Akihabara.

Popular Akiba maid cosplay idol Himeko Sakuragawa 桜川ひめこ also appears in the book speaking about life in the Otaku world.
The book has 176 pages and is priced at 1365 Yen.
