Seed of Trivia: Would you save a lady in distress like Desha Otako?

Japanese TV shows always come up with very interesting topics. In this show Fountain of Trivia (also known as Hey! Spring of Trivia) from Fuji TV, there is a segment called Seed of Trivia トリビアの種 where viewers submit hypothetical questions intended to produce answers in the form of new trivia.
In the following clip about otaku trivia, the question asked is, “Out of 100 Akihabara otaku, how many would save a lady in trouble?” just like in the famous TV show, movie, manga and novel Densha Otako (The Train Man) 電車男 でんしゃおとこ.

An experiment is held in a back alley in Akihabara where otaku men are trying to find a new maid cafe. In the alley they see a pretty Japanese lady who resembles and is dressed like the character Hermes エルメス ( played on the TV show by Misaki Ito 青山沙織 ) who is in trouble. Camera’s are hidden to tape the reactions of the otaku.
It’s very interesting viewing to see the reactions and reasons for helping or not helping. Are otaku like Densha Otoko real or made up? Watch and find out.

I saw this on Trivia no Izumi last year! That was a great show. They also looked at if a dog would protect its owner against a bear attack and other such valuable experiments.
Can’t believe it seems to have gone off our screens:(

All the Otaku who stopped fair play to them. Its a tough situation, cos the fella blatently looks Yakuza. The Otaku is likely to get a knife in his belly…
Ive had my fair share of encounters with Yakuza, and they are the one (only) type of Japanese guy you dont mess with!
