Shokotan searches for the ultimate Otaku in Akihabara

Shoko Nakagawa 中川翔子

In the following clip from Japanese TV, actress, otaku and gravure idol Shoko Nakagawa 中川翔子 searches Akihabara for the “ultimate” otaku.  She finds several candidates including  a man playing “Taiko no Tatsujin” blindfolded, while several “otagei” performers dance behind him.  She also finds a street performer cosplaying as Haruhi Suzumiya which she finds very fun and decides to join in.

Next Shokotan cosplays as Rei Ayanami and poses as a life-size figure in a figurine shop and although many people pass by and look, no one can recognize her. Finally, one otaku does a double take and Shokotan reveals herself.  The otaku is wearing a special outfit of a self-invented character called A-Hero (Akiba Hero), protector of the otaku “holy land” (Akihabara) who has his own name tag, slogans and sequence of poses.
