Tokyo girls collection is arguably the biggest, most successful, commercial fashion event for every fashionable young Japanese lady living in Tokyo. The 6th Tokyo Girls Collection 2008 was held in March 15th earlier this year at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo attended by over 20,000 screaming Japanese women ranging in age from their high teens to their early 30s.

More like a rock concert than a high fashion catwalk, the most popular Japanese magazine models such as Yu Yamada, Lena Fujii, Aoi Miura, Carolina Kaneda, Chikako Watanabe, Coco Kinoshita, Elli-Rose, ikumi, Jun Hasegawa, Kiko Mizuhara, LIZA, MARIA, Marie, Midori Kuzuoka, Miki Arimura, Nanami, Nozomi Sasaki, Riena, Rika Imai, Rio Matsumoto, Sara Mary, Seira Yoshida, Yu Hirukawa, Yumi Sakurai wore fashions by the trendiest Japanese street brands.

Fashion brands showcased included ALBA ROSA、blondy、CECIL McBEE、Cecil Linc deicy、HbG、kitson、LITIRA、MARS、me、 Palms&Labskie、Ravijour、Smork by Language、snidel, titty&Co., blondy, Jolly Boutique, DOUBLE STANDARD CLOTHING and luv.Ronde.

The show was hosted by KIRIN, Mari Yaguchi, Anna Fukazawa and Rina Hukazawa and there were musical performances by the Funky Monkey Babys, DJ Chemical and featured Jpop group Chemistry.

There were also special appearances by Japanese celebrities Shosuke Tanihara, Aki Hoshino, Leah Dizon, Hinano Yoshikawa, Sada Mayumi and Shoko Nakagawa.

For this event there was a newly established award to honor the female celebrity who had the most successful year. The recipient of the “Best Girl of 2007″ title was Japanese actress Yui Aragaki.
