Webmaster $$$

Dollar sign

Japansugoi has grown very quickly in 6 months from zero traffic to currently Alexa rank 68,589 in about 6 months. A few users have asked if we’ve been able to monetize our traffic and the answer is yes (enough to cover hosting and some then some).

We’ve taken the view that any revenues will have to built up over time and there are no quick rich schemes. With that in mind, we looked at a lot of affiliate type schemes and to be honest most were too shady promising huge quick returns. We also talked to lots of other webmasters about their long term experiences and conversion rates and settled on a few that had this criteria.

Criteria

1. Reputable company (e.g. good references)
2. Reputable product and service (i.e. no adult or gambling service)
3. Easy to implement (e.g. can set up quickly)
4. High conversion rates (e.g. steady and preferably growing revenues)

These are our recommended programs for websites or blogs if you have good steady traffic, Alexa rank 10,000-150,000.
Google Adsense

1. Google Adsense.

Type: Affliate

I think most webmasters know of this program and though easy to implement we’ve found our Google adsense revenue fluctuates quite a lot even with our stable traffic. Although we recommend Google Adsense, we find it’s difficult to rely on as a steady source of revenue. (If anyone can explain how their algorithms work in simple English, let us know!)

Auction ads

2. Auction Ads.

Type: Affiliate

This is a relatively new program set up that links to live ebay auctions. You display various products based on key words and if a user clicks and purchases something, then you (currently) get 100% of eBay commission revenue. You can see how we’ve placed various code boxes in the sidebars our site.

This program has been a very pleasant surprise that in 2 months has equaled our google adsense revenue. If the growth rate continues, we expect it to surpass monthly google revenues in the next few months. We’ll have to wait and see. This code is very easy to implement.

3. WorldFriendsNetworks

Type: Private Label partnership

We had heard from many webmasters that online friend finding is an excellent way to monetize traffic but we didn’t want to buy a script and the hassle of running a paid service ourselves. Our only option seemed to be joining one of the numerous affiliate schemes on offer but we wanted more upside than just sending our traffic to someone else’s website.
The other problem was that many of the affiliate schemes seemed to be associated with adult services.

We then found a reputable online friend finding company that offered a private label partnership where the service would be branded as ours and we would get all the benefits of having a branded service (repeat visits, page views, member info) but in fact was run by a third party.

Worldfriendsnetworks.com offers a 40-50% revenue share and a relatively simple set up. Due to the nature of the service, the longer you stay with them and promote the service, the higher the revenue stream.

Having spoke to various webmasters to confirm this as true, they set up and run Japansugoi Friends. We’ve been running this for about a month now and can now see how the revenue cumulates over time and although the payout is quarterly, the healthy 4% paid conversion rate and increased visits generated more than makes up for it. We think this will be a really good long term partnership.

If you’re interested, send them your website details, their email address is privatelabel at meta4-group dot com and they’ll let you know if you qualify to join.
