Yamada Yu 山田優 is one of the trio of top CanCam キャンキャン models who has made it big (the others are Ebihara Yuri 蛯原友里 and Oshikiri Moe 押切もえ). Unlike the other two models, Yamada Yu has also launched a singing career.

This 22 year old Okinawa celebrity was groomed to get into showbiz having been a teenage model and singer. She got her big break when she was signed under exclusive contract for the fashion magazine CanCam. In 2003 she began to work on TV variety shows and was a sportscaster for the Japanese F1 Grand Prix. In 2005 she was cast in the leading role of Yukari for the anime Paradise Kiss. Yu can now be seen as one of the hosts on the variety show Minna no Terebi (Everybody’s TV). Her first single Real You was released earlier this year to some commercial success.
